I live in the town of Sandwich, Kent, England and work as a professional Calligrapher, Artist and Tutor of Calligraphy.  I studied at Maidstone College of Art and achieved a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design and eventually took up evening classes in Adult Education in Calligraphy, and achieved an Intermediate Diploma from the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society , in London and over 14 years I have been developing my lettering skills to a high standard.  Over the last 8 years I have led Calligraphy classes with Adult Education and also with Kent Children’s University as well as being an artist in residence at various local schools.  I am a member of the Kent based Calligraphy Society called the Cinque Ports Scribes of which I have been a Chairman and committee member.   

My professional work now involves many varied formal and personal commissions including family trees, prose, poems, wedding stationery, as well as scrolls and certificates commissioned by The Cinque Ports Federation, and both Sandwich and Dover Town Councils.   

I create contemporary pieces of work that fuse letters, words and text with colour and imagery using a selection of style scripts inspired by words and letters, in variety of mediums including watercolours, gouaches, gold leaf, oils and collage using handmade papers. I use a wide selection of calligraphic tools including brause nibs, automatic pens, pointed and square brushes.  My work is an expression of words and the liveliness of hand-written letters that create expression, rhythm and texture.

The creative works are sold in galleries across Kent and I have held her own exhibitions as well as exhibiting with local artists and also with the Cinque Ports Scribes. In October 2005 I was invited to show ten pieces of my work in an exhibition of Calligraphy in Maubeuge, France.  I organise an annual Art Teachers Exhibition, in Sandwich, and have an Open Studio every year.
