Chris Amess

Educated at Dover Boys’ Grammar School, I studied for a Higher National Diploma in Photography at Kent Institute of Art and Design, prior to taking a BA (Hons) Degree in Visual Design and Advertising at the University of Kent.

I have worked for a number of years as a freelance photographer, commissioned work includes projects for Shelter, The English Speaking Union, and contributions to ‘Now’ Magazine, Advertising and Editorial work for numerous companies,

Model Test Shoots for agencies including Storm, Models One, and Elite.

I have produced Photographic and Theatrical Make-up for professional organisations including the BBC and independent production Companies. I am interested in creating images which blend fiction with reality, and challenge our perception of the ‘real’ and how we judge the world around us in terms of beauty.

Having worked for fifteen years within a Law Enforcement Agency, I have had the opportunity to observe the lives of individuals that most people would never meet. This experience has changed the way that I view society, and has greatly influenced the work that I produce.
