Use of Local Clays

For some time, Colin has been interested in the use

of local materials in the production of items

specific to any one region of the country.

This has led to experiments with wood ash glazes made

from locally sourced wood (pear, apple, willow,

raspberry, buddleia, beech).

He is also interested in using clay from specific environmens

to produce pieces inspired by the area from

which they originated. If anyone has access to

a source of local clay, which they would like to see

used in this way, or has undertaken experimentation

of this kind themselves, please get in touch!
