Sue Hibberd has so far lived in seven counties across the South of England.  Now settled in East Kent, she has been instrumental in developing art in the area through her work with Tamboo Bamboo Arts Co-operative, with Locus Arts, and in organising street carnivals and arts workshops.

The global need for recycling has always been a concern to Sue, and this has led to her interest in papier mache as a medium.  Her skills in papermaking have arisen from explorations into the development and use of paper across cultures.

Her pieces are highly personal, and are often based on the plants and herbs she grows in her garden.  As a Cancerian, the sea is also a strong influence, and this is reflected in the colours she chooses, and the recurrent use of sand and shells.

2D pieces are most often created using 100% recycled materials, with no additional colouring.  Occasionally, acrylic or oil paints are used to highlight particular textures or forms.
